Limited Term Assistant Professor

My name is Yukun Du, currently a Limited Term Assistant Professor at the Department of Mathematics at UGA.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree at Tsinghua University and my Ph.D. at UC Davis.

My research interest focuses on Geometric Group Theory and Symmetric Spaces.

Research Interests:

My research interest focuses on Geometric Group Theory, especially Kleinian groups (for both hyperbolic and higher-rank symmetric spaces). My Doctoral Thesis, Geometry of Selberg's bisectors in the symmetric space $SL(n,\mathbb{R})/SO(n,\mathbb{R})$, discussed topics related to an algorithm for discrete subgroups of $SL(n,\mathbb{R})$ acting on this symmetric space.

I am also interested in Bruhat-Tits trees and buildings.

Selected Publications:

“Geometry of Selberg’s bisectors in the symmetric space SL(n, R)/SO(n, R)”. In: J. Lond. Math. Soc. 110.4.

Document:

"Busemann-Selberg Functions and Completeness for Dirichlet-Selberg domains in SL(n, R)/SO(n)." Submitted for publication. arXiv: 2412.06987.

Document:

"Free and Discrete Generating Pairs of Tree Automorphisms." (Joint work with S. Hersonsky) Submitted for publication.
