Typical Graduate Student Teaching Assignments

A typical Graduate Student teaching assignment in Years 1-3 is currently:

Year 1

Fall:  8 hours of grading plus 4 hours of Study Hall

Spring:  6 hours of grading plus 6 hours of Study Hall

Year 2

Fall:  Teach 1 section of Math 1113 (6+2* hours) plus 4 hours of grading or Study Hall

Spring:  Teach 2 sections of Math 1113

Year 3

Fall:  Teach 1 section of Math 2250 (8+2* hours) plus 2 hours of Study Hall

Spring: Teach 1 section of Math 2250 (8 hours) plus 4 hours of grading or Study Hall

* In recent years we have been able to give an extra 2 hours credit to you when you teach a course for the first time and hope to continue this policy, but continuation of this policy is not guaranteed.

** Note that these are only “typical” assignments, there are other possible assignments (such as being a TA for Math 2200) which are occasionally assigned.
