Exciting News- You can now fulfill your Experiential Learning Requirement through mentoring in the (MP)2 program!

Mission:

The Math Peer Mentor Program is a peer mentorship program within UGA’s Math department that seeks to provide a platform that inspires Math students to cultivate camaraderie, growth and connection to enhance their personal and professional development.

Vision:

The vision of the program is to foster a peer learning space where Math students from diverse backgrounds can engage and develop meaningful relationships within the department.

  • Mentors will be able to reflect on their own student experiences, and hopefully, transmit information that provides valuable support to their mentees
  • Mentees will be able to solidify their sense of belonging within the Math department through significant conversations and student involvement
  • The program hopes to produce positive social and academic outcomes for our Math students
  • The program also aims to encourage Math students to continue their involvement with the Math department as well as the UGA community after graduation

Objectives:

  • To develop community among undergraduate Math students and improve their overall experience as Math majors
  • To provide a peer teaching and learning environment and foster networking skills
  • To develop personal growth and interpersonal skills
  • To help new and incoming Math majors navigate their sense of belonging within the Math department as well as the larger UGA community
  • To enable Math students to expand on their mentoring skills and professional resume

 Core Values:

    L  E A D

     L = Leadership

     E = Equity

     A = Accountability

     D = Development (Personal and Professional)

Peer mentors for this program must be current Math majors and have completed at least 2 upper division (3000-level or above) Math courses at UGA and have spent at least 1 year as a Math major in our department

Mentor and Mentee Applications for 2023-2024 academic year are currently closed
