Putnam Mathematics Competition

Putnam
@ Boyd (Room TBD)

WHAT IS PUTNAM?

The William Lowell Putnam Mathematics Competition is a nationwide undergraduate intercollegiate mathematics competition that has been running since 1938. The exam consists of two written rounds, administered in Boyd in the morning and the afternoon. Each round runs for 3 hours and consists of 6 highly challenging (proof-based) problems.

The exam will run from 10 AM to 6 PM. There will be a break between 1 - 3 pm for lunch (pizza) and discussion.

STEPS:

1. Register for the exam (click here). There is no cost.

2. After registering, send an email to Dr. Paul Pollack (pollack@uga.edu) notifying that you have registered for the competition.

3. Review past problems and solutions at Kiran Kedlaya's Putnam Exam Archive: The Putnam Archive

4. PRACTICE AND PREPARE! The Putnam competition is challenging but make it a fun experience!
