The Double Dawgs Mathematics BS/Mathematics MA and Mathematics BS (Applied)/Applied mathematical Science MAMS programs are a joint degree program expected to take 5 years. It has stricter requirements than the usual math major, moving students directly into graduate level course work during their 3rd and 4th years of study, and adding (usually) a 5th year of 8000-level course work, together with either a thesis (in the case of the BS/MA) or technical report (in the case of the BS/MAMS). Both Double Dawgs programs allow for up to 12 hours of courses to count towards the BS program and either the MA or MAMS program requirements.
